- Scrub and dice the potatoes.
- Add the potatoes to a saucepan and cover them with water. Add a tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Cook until the potatoes are ready to mash, which sould take 15 to 20 minutes.
- Heat the milk and butter in a saucepan in low-meduim heat until it is warm and the butter melted.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the saucepan, covering them with a clean towel for 5min to absorb excess steam.
- Pour the milk and butter mix on the potatoes, and mash them until they are creamy. It takes a couple of minutes for the potatoes to absorb the liquid.
- Stir in the pepper and sour cream. Taste for seasoning and let stand for 5min before eating, so that the potatoes thicken.
